I went there from 2015-2018. It was ight ig. Could be better :) hehe
Both of my children have attended One Room and though they are very different, they both have had the opportunity to thrive at this school due to the support and acceptance of their personal uniqueness. My child's VPK teacher has endless patience and understanding of children's different skills and abilities. My older child had exceptional instruction here that set her up to attend and excel at magnet/Lyceum programs. Staff is always friendly and helpful and the year book rocks.
If I was able to rate this school a zero, I truly will. The ONLY person who I felt truly had any sense or a personality to work with children and their parents was my son's teacher. From the treatment to the consist calls of what I would of thought was life threatening while at work, it was no other decision to be made but to remove him in less than a week. Even after talking to the principal who was very non caring to my husband and I, I will never put my son through anything like this. Needless to say, if your child isn't perfect or better yet a CHILD than I suggest that you look further than this place. This whole experience still plays a toll on my son but I'm truly thankful my husband and I have found somewhere that is filled with staff who actually care about children, understand kindergartners are FIVE years old (not adults), don't give up on children after a mistake and genuinely love their job.
If you are looking for a school that will give up on your child on their first encounter with the public/charter school system this is the school. The teacher cared for my child, but the staff did not give me the notion that they did. As for the after school program the director was the worst she did not understand children at all or how to handle them. They expect each child to be the same without any regards for common sense that each child is not the same. Children are expected to fend for themselves on their first day without any assistance from an authority figure. If you don't mind your child being graded throughout the day like some science project gaining and losing points for typical things such as getting out of line. I had heard many negative things about this school prior to enrolling my child and I ignored them, but I unfortunately had to find out the hard way. I ended up removing my child from this school after only 5 days which is unheard of, but he is now at a school that actually understands children especially Kindergartners.
One Room Middle School will not survive without Mr. Beckett.
