Author: Kristeena Marie Rating: 1/5 Date: 2/29/2024, 9:01:08 PM Review: We are extremely disappointed with the level of "care" received in the infant classroom at StarChild. The academy as a whole seems impressive during the tour w/ its clean facility & all the promises that were made during the tour. However, most of the information received during the tour is a lie. Overall, this is a terrible place. My child was neglected & did not receive proper care & nutrition while here. I reminded teachers various times that the main source of nutrition for infants is breastmilk/formula & not solids, but they continuously offered solids first. On one occasion, I came to pick up my child & she had not been fed a bottle in 5+ hours. Instead of feeding her a bottle when she woke up from a nap, the teacher fed her a snack. When similar happened again, I brought it to the attention of the director & they tried to tell me that if I have specific dietary needs for my daughter, I would need a pediatrician note. I reiterated that this is not just for my daughter, but that it is a general rule that all infants receive their main nutrition from milk & they said they'd add it to my notes. I feel sorry for any parents w/ infants here who may not know that there is better care out there, at a more affordable rate. The only good thing about this place was one teacher - Raelynn. She should find a job elsewhere so she's no longer on a sinking ship. Below are a some of our concerns (too lengthy to list them all, this is not even half of them). -Advertise having 2 cameras & "two different angles in each classroom". Camera quality is SO BAD you cannot identify your child. Key areas in the room are not visible such as half of the play area, & the camera that "shows" the high chairs is so fuzzy & far away that I stared at an empty highchair for an hour thinking my child was in it. The closer camera does not show the highchairs, so you can never see your child eating. -Application where they send you live updates w/ feedings, diaper changes, & naps. However, they do not tell you how many ounces of milk your child is eating (& I asked several times to plz do so). When updating app for solid food feedings, they always put child ate ALL of their food & update happens before the meal even starts. Then teachers verbally tell you that your child didn't eat XXX food that day. They also say they will send pictures but I had to ask three different days if that was ever going to happen before I finally saw the first picture. -They have a monthly food menu where you circle food items your child is allowed to eat. One teacher fed my child food that we did not circle & that we had specified she was not allowed to eat. When brought to their attention, instead of apologizing for the mix up, director said, "well she didn't eat very much of it, she just picked at it", even tho the app again said she ate ALL of it. -Day after above occurred, teacher went out of her way to show me that they had printed a list of allergies & included my daughter as being allergic to eggs. This took place the second week of her being in attendance & they had fed my daughter eggs twice the previous week. Thank god she's not actually allergic to eggs. -Various teachers grab the children & pick them up by their arms instead of their chest cavity/torso area. -Consistently placed my child in a bouncer/jumper even when other babies were getting floor time w/ a teacher at the playmat. They would place my daughter in a bouncer for the allowed 20 mins, take her out for 5 mins & place her back in a different jumper for another 20 mins. -Security is non existent. Front door requires pin to access, but is always held open by other parents coming & going so anyone can walk in or out. The second door inside the building is always propped open. -On a day w/ a sub, we arrived to pickup, sub told us our child only drank 1oz of her milk. I had watched on camera that sub provided bottle to child in highchair for 15mins w/ no assistance even tho child's notes state she cannot hold her bottle. After 15min, sub took bottle away. No wonder daughter was not gaining weight here.

Author: Aliya Rivera Rating: 5/5 Date: 9/5/2024, 2:37:16 AM Review: Absolutely love this amazing elementary school! Amazing curriculum, great teachers! Kids going to school with pleasure! ----- Author: Racquel McGlashen Rating: 5/5 Date: 6/5/2024, 1:50:51 PM Review: My child and I both love Starchild Academy! It's impossible to narrow it down to just one thing I like the most, so I have to list 3-4 things. 1. They are very attentive to the children - from teachers, to admin, to custodial staff. Everyone takes the time to know your child and their parents. 2. They have a great curriculum that is diverse, age-appropriate, and very manageable for both the child and parent. I love that my child was exposed to so many different subjects and activities. The classroom setting is very interactive and engaging. 3. They are current with technology. I love that I can check in on my child with their camera system and love how secure access to the building is - I feel that my child is in a very secure environment. The apps are very easy to use as well for checking in and communicating with admin and teachers. 4. Overall a great "bang for your buck" - from the hours, meal/snack inclusions, and more.10000% recommend enrolling your child here! ----- Author: Mer St. Laurent Rating: 1/5 Date: 5/8/2024, 5:16:15 PM Review: I so wanted to like this place! Unfortunately even though I did like the curriculum and the front office staff, the teachers and the assistant teachers leave a lot to be desired and the food is terrible. My child told me that they yelled at them constantly. They have cameras for the parents to access but the quality is so bad and of course there is no audio. I couldn't hear the teachers screaming at the kids but I did see them man handling the poor children. I also witnessed a teacher assistant in the preschool class slamming one of the nap cots in front of a child in order to get their attention. How frightening this must be for a kid this age? I saw this poor creature almost jump out of their skin! I know that teachers and their assistants even more so are probably severely underpaid but this doesn't justify treating a child that way. Worse of all my kid told me that when they wiped their bottoms in the potty room they were very rough. This made me so angry! At first I was scared it could have been more when my child told me their tush hurt whenever they went to school. You can imagine as a parent how frightening that was! However, apparently they are just really careless. Also they let out 3 classes at at time for outdoor play! That's 66 kids all at once fighting for 2 slides?! My child was constantly hurt in the playground area. Apparently bullied there too by other kids. The cameras for the playground were the worst of all! You couldnt see a thing! So many blind spots! However I was able to see the teachers just chatting with each other while children were outside. How disappointing and frustrating! Last but not least, another thing a parent wrote in a review here is true, they have really poor communication. The app they use is never used properly. They don't send photos and the "updates" are written before the fact. The child took a nap and slept the whole time for example when I'd see that my kid was still sleeping so how would they know how long they'd sleep for?! Saying that they ate all the food, when they didn't! Why?! Very sad state of affairs at Star Child indeed. ----- Author: Antonio Montana Rating: 2/5 Date: 12/10/2023, 9:29:01 AM Review: This school has lots of room for improvement but the management seems to keep dragging its feet about the issue and giving the same old lip service excuses. Teacher turnover seems to be a major issue as they have a problem with retaining good talent and some of the curriculum is highly questionable, such as "Arabic Language" classes for Pre-K students. In a state like Florida with over 80% of the population speaking Spanish, who's the genius that decided to waste time on a foreign language that has zero benefit to these students unless they all plan on relocating to the UAE to work on oil rigs? Also, there are some ongoing behavioral issues among the students that aren't being addressed by the school administrators, such as spitting and aggressive playground behavior like shoving. If I could go back in time, I'd choose another school for my child had I known all of the pre-existing issues with this one ----- Author: Megan Seeley Rating: 5/5 Date: 9/6/2023, 1:39:01 AM Review: We love Star Child Wekiva. We have gotten to know the staff and love them. I have 3 kids who attend this school and have been coming since they were babies. One is now in Kindergarten here. They take safety seriously which I appreciate. The curriculum is advanced my kids are ahead of most kids their age who do not attend this school. ----- Author: J Boogie Rating: 5/5 Date: 8/30/2023, 10:25:44 PM Review: Such a great institution. We love the people as much as we love the curriculum for our two boys. ----- Author: Stacey Barker Rating: 5/5 Date: 8/25/2023, 4:45:01 PM Review: I love the curriculum at Star child. The teachers are great. I've never been a fan of big change and apparently neither is my son so when he switches classes or his friends get moved he gets sad but that's got to be with every daycare. Overall, we've had a great experience. ----- Author: Adriana Greenstein Rating: 5/5 Date: 1/12/2023, 12:00:50 AM Review: My son has been attending the Wekiva one and we love it! Staff and teachers are amazing and we are beyond impressed on the curriculum ----- Author: Shirani Perera Rating: 5/5 Date: 1/11/2023, 1:49:52 PM Review: The academic staff is well trained, educated, and respectful, and administrators are very organized and respectful. The curriculum is amazing and it will help kids to enhance their cognitive skills. This is the best decision I took for my child. ----- Author: Cayden Mac (MyMan50Grand) Rating: 5/5 Date: 1/5/2022, 5:48:51 PM Review: I am so grateful to be a parent of of a child that attends Star Child Wekiva. Their curriculum is awesomely advanced and the teachers are some of the Best! The staff is wonderful and very caring. The cook blesses us with the delicious smelling aroma of our children's lunch each and every day as she so humbly prepares. :) I give Star Child a total thumbs up as it is a pleasure to watch my son grow up with such a phenomenal education from those that truly care. Thank you Star Child Wekiva! :)

Saying that they ate all the food, when they didn't! Why?! Very sad state of affairs at Star Child indeed. ----- Author: Venusha Moodley Thompson Rating: 1/5 Date: 5/5/2024, 11:10:43 AM Review: My two sons attended StarChild since June of 2022. When I went in to pick up our kids yesterday (12/21/22), I received a booboo report to sign that Ms. Zuly scratched my 3 yo's arm causing him to bleed in classroom Preschool C. He had a bandaid over it so I didn't see the extent of the damage while there. Removing his bandaid for his bath showed my husband and I both a gouged out section that is not just a scratch. It is a clear scar of a full curved thumbnail from her digging so hard and deep into his skin to draw blood and leave behind such a wound. She claims she was hugging him but that would not result in the purposefully caused laceration she has inflicted the inner portion of such a small child's forearm. I have pictures to document the physical harm and the center had camera recordings of the room. They refused to let me see the footage from what she did and what other actions she may have taken against my son. StarChild claimed they didn't have video but calling th actual camera provider proved that all plans included cloud storage. StarChild refused to provide contact information until I spoke with the regional director - Liz Reece. I left a voicemail at 8am. Then called back at 9am. I finally spoke with her at 10:19am. She then drove to the location and said she spoke with the teacher and others who may have been in the room yesterday. Ms. Zuly claimed to have no idea that she caused this injury despite it being such a deep wound to draw blood. Ms. Liz "provided coaching" and when the location director got back from vacation at the end of the next week, more "coaching" occurred. This is absolutely unacceptable. For a teacher to cause injuries to a child and for a company to then pretend that "coaching" of a few minutes was sufficient is ridiculous. The only repercussion for the teacher was that she got a letter in her file stating that she needs to build stronger relationships with parents. DCF got involved and even the worker said an injury, such as the one inflicted on my son, was not possible accidentally. If you send your child to this facility, be aware they don't care about your child or their safety. See the attached pictures from the wound upon opening it for bath time and then again when putting a new bandaid on this morning. ----- Author: Kristeena Marie Rating: 1/5 Date: 2/29/2024, 9:01:08 PM Review: We are extremely disappointed with the level of "care" received in the infant classroom at StarChild. An Exceptional Preschool That Stands Apart After extensive research and multiple school changes for my first son, I can confidently say that this preschool is truly exceptional. What sets it apart is its transparency—something I found lacking in many other programs. Instead of simply dropping children off at a door and retrieving them hours later with no insight into their day, parents here have the opportunity to witness the environment, the learning process, and the overall atmosphere in which their children are growing. This openness fosters a deep sense of trust and confidence in the education and care being provided. Beyond transparency, the staff is what truly elevates this school. They are not only highly capable and efficient but also exceptionally kind, trustworthy, and genuinely invested in the well-being of every child. Their commitment to both the students and their families is evident in every interaction, and their dedication goes far beyond duty—it is a reflection of their passion for early childhood education. This is a place where children are not only nurtured but also meaningfully engaged in learning. The difference is unmistakable, and I advocate for this school every chance I get—at the park, the grocery store, anywhere I meet parents searching for quality education. If you are looking for a preschool that values transparency, excellence, and heartfelt dedication, this is the one. It’s the ONLY one.

This School has been a Godsend for us, at different school My child was labelled by ill-equipped director, as a "Problem and unmanageable". After a few months at Starchild, not only have I seen that my child is extremely smart, calm, capable, "manageable" and NOT "the problem". Even at home he seems calmer and happier since starting Starchild.

I am incredibly grateful for this preschool and the wonderful environment they have created. From day one, the warm, nurturing, and compassionate atmosphere immediately put both my little one and me at ease. The staff are absolutely amazing—patient, caring, and truly dedicated to every child's growth. Since joining, my lil guy has flourished in every way. It’s heartwarming to see him light up with joy and anticipation every morning as he heads off to school. His newfound confidence, social skills, and excitement for learning have made this experience a delightful journey for our family. I wholeheartedly appreciate all the educators for their unwavering commitment to creating such a loving and supportive space. I highly recommend this preschool to any parent looking for a place where their child can truly thrive.
