Our 8-year-old daughter has been at Alexander for four years now, and it has been a remarkable experience. We chose Alexander because of the Montessori method, and their solid credentials in this field. I cannot stress enough how this school has positively impacted our daughter; she LOVES going to school, she's learning so much academically, but, more importantly, she's learning other key skills, such as leadership, self-confidence, as well as the values of kindness, honesty, and collaboration. Alexander is a school that cares about the children as a whole. When my daughter was in PK4, and kindergarten she would not like to stay still and she constantly wanted to sing and dance. In a regular school, this probably would not have gone well. At Alexander, her extraordinary teacher, Ms. Brenda, provided her the space she needed to do her lessons while allowing her to sing softly and move around. My daughter did extremely well academically, becuase her teachers leaned in to her way of learning, instead of stifling it. Each child learns differently, and they truly embrace that. As parents, we are very fortunate to be part of the Alexander community. We moved to Miami several years ago, and knew almost nobody. Through Alexander, we have met some of our best friends to date. Overall, there is a big sense of community and parents are very involved. If you're looking for a school that is academically very strong, but also cares deeply for your childrens development as whole-hearted and confident, human beings, look no further.
My daughter attended and now my son attends Alexander Montessori and we could not be happier. My daughter went on to Palmer Trinity and I know without a doubt that her Alexander foundation helped shape the student she is today. My son is in Kindergarten and is thrilled with his new school. He is excited to learn and proud of himself, he says that "reading is his superpower". Alexander helps children find what they are good at and guides them to learn through activities and challenges, just like in adulthood. They will not have to sit still in a desk while being spoon fed facts, they will be learning hands on... which is the basis for true knowledge not the ability to regurgitate facts.
